This book is based on Dee's battle and journey with cancer. Dee went to the emergency room fifteen times in February, The shortest month of the year, just to be sent home every time as he endured excruciating pain, not being able to hold food or water down, and a lost of 26 pounds that same month. Finally on his sixteenth visit to the ER. He was rushed into emergency surgery to remove a large blockage in his lower intestines, and his cancer journey began.

The month of February tiptoed in with its darkness and coldness as an icy soul with the harshness of the season. When Dee heard his diagnosis tears gathered in his eyes. Then escaped  running down his cheeks. A shiver shook his body as he inhaled only a shadow breath.

When darkness overcomes you . What do you do? When there is trouble on everyside. What do you do? As his mother I now faced fear of the future and the past. A future without him and the dreams I held for his future will now be rooted in the past. I felt so disempowered. I could not ease his pain. I couldn't make things better. I could not save him. I had always thought I could protect my children and keep them from harm. I was crushed to face the fact my love was not enough to help him. My heart cried tears!
